Backstage Secrets is a global education project. We use various form of modern education: seminars, studio master-classes, private lessons and webinars. 6 Days, 6 Superstar Mixers, Legendary Studios, Full Immersion
A unique educational journey to the capital of the modern music industry, Los Angeles, where you will enter music production master classes with 6 legendary producers: Mark Needham, Jay Baumgardner, Warren Huart, Matt Wallace, Ed Cherney and Steven Slate. This has never been before where you can work and learn from all of the stars in the space of one week!
Highlights and features of the Mixing Camp Course include:
Day 1 - February 20, Mark Needham. Mixing class (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
Mark Needham is a producer, who helped such musicians as The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Chris Isaak and many others to reach the world top charts (also Mark worked with Moby, Shakira, Train, P!nk, Metro Station, Neon Trees, Sick Puppies, My Chemical Romance). An 11 times Grammy nominee, Mark is also a member of The Recording Academy with the voting right. His efficiency is really striking: with his assistants Mark mixes about 500 songs a year!
Day 2 - February 21, Jay Baumgardner. Producing and mixing class (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
The next step is Jay Baumgardner workshop at his owns NRG Studios, where an incredible amount of stars, ranging from Linkin Park and Foo Fighters to Alicia Keyes and Celine Dion were recorded. For 25 years in the industry Jay has collaborated with such musicians as Evanescence, Ugly Kid Joe, Helmet, Sevendust, Papa Roach, Endwell, Coal Chamber, Drowning Pool, Godsmack, Three Days Grace, P.O.D., New Found Glory, Spineshank, Alien Ant Farm, Orgy, Bush.
Day 3 - February 22, Warren Huart. Producing and mixing class (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
Warren Huart is an English record producer/musician/composer and recording engineer based in Los Angeles, California. His passion for music developed at a very early age, when his father introduced him to jazz and classical music. Huart’s ascent to the recording A-list included work as an independent artist, a studio musician — he still plays on some of the projects he records — and ultimately production, engineering, mixing and songwriting. His roster is diverse, including the Fray, James Blunt, Howie Day, Ben’s Brother and Aerosmith.
Day 4 - February 23, Matt Wallace. Recording and mixing class (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
Matt Wallace is a multi-platinum producer from Los Angeles. With over 30 years of combined experience professionally recording and producing music, Wallace have greatest vision and skills. His portfolio includes work with Maroon 5, Faith No More, O.A.R., The Replacements, Train, 3 Doors Down, Spin Doctors, Deftones, R.E.M., Everlast, New Monkees, Spin Doctors, Sheryl Crow.
Day 5 - February 24, Ed Cherney. Mixing class (12 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
Day 5 runs with Ed Cherney, best known as The Rolling Stones’ producer. Besides the Stones, Ed has also worked with Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop, Bette Midler, Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, Spinal Tap, Elton John, Sting, Bob Seeger, Goo Goo Dolls, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, and Bush. Moreover, he has mixed soundtracks to well-known movies such as “The Hobbit”, “Sex And The City” and “The Bourne Legacy”. Throughout his career, Ed has decorated his wall of fame with multiple Grammy, Emmy and TEC awards.
Day 6 - February 25, Steven Slate. Mixing class (12 p.m. - 3 p.m.)
Day 6 will start with Steven Slate's exclusive mixing master class that will bring you to the different point of view on mixing process. Steven is a well-known entrepreneur in music software business who brought you Slate Drums, Steven Slate digital and other famous projects. Steven worked with hundreds of artists over the years as a mix engineer but for the past decade have focused on building the Slate companies. Some notable artists are George Lynch, Blind By Noon, Ashley Williss, Chad Smith, and of course the drums he'd engineered have appeared on some of the biggest albums by artists like Carlos Santana, Maroon Five, Avenged Sevenfold, Blink 182, and more.
Day 6 - February 25, Andrew Brightman. Management class (3:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
Andrew Brightman is a CEO and founder in Brightman Music - a company that manages 13 great producers, songwriters and mix engineers: Dave Cobb, Mark Needham, Kato Khandwala, Darrell Thorp, Dennis Herring, Will Brierre, Jim Kaufman, Paul Worley, Dave Way, Sean Cook, Ben O'Neill, Noah Shain and Jarvis Anderson. The Backstage Secrets group will have the chance to hear all about Andrews industry knowledge and learn about producer career development from someone who has been undeniably one of the most successful to date.
